The James Marks Academy opened in September 2023, on our existing Roman Field site in Hemel Hempstead, before transferring to Welwyn when the school moved into its brand new home. The school has state of the art facilities and support pupils with high anxiety, communications and poor self-esteem/mental health which has often led to school refusal. The school initially opened to just 20 pupils, with numbers rising to 72 when full in 2027.

We are looking to recruit an experienced tradesman/groundsman to support our Site Manager to cover the Trust sites. The post will be primarily based in Welwyn, but it will be expected that the Site Manager and Caretaker are able to cover each other’s annual leave, so some working across sites will be required when needed and mileage will be paid on these occasions.

The candidate must be enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated, efficient, able to work on their own initiative, work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure.  Clear knowledge of Health and Safety will be advantageous as is the ability to keep clear premises records.

Please review the Caretaker duties and responsibilities, as well as the person specification in this application pack.  Please note that all applicants must complete an application form as lone CVs will not be accepted.

We'd love you to visit - please contact the main office 01707 830950 to arrange. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
